Exhibit 9-Veteran's Monument Flyer

How I made this in Photoshop:
I started with an off white background. I then added the blue bar across the top using the rectangular marquee tool and fill. I did the same with the stripes at the bottom of the flyer. I used the custom shape tool to add the stars to the blue bar on the top. I then took a soldier and placed him on the left, lowered the opacity a little bit, and then duplicated him. I used the free transform to flip him horizontal and placed him on the other side as well.
Design Thoughts:
Because this is a Veteran's Day event, I wanted to incorporate the flag in there. I thought the stripes would be too hard to read the text, so I only did it at the bottom of the flyer, which ties the top and the bottom together. The soldiers draw the eye in towards the middle, which allows you to see the date, time, and location first.
  • Contrast: Colors of red, white, and blue. Soldiers and blue text on an off-white background.
  • Repetition: Same font throughout. Flag elements at the top and at the bottom. Soldiers on both sides.
  • Proximity: You're invited is next to what he event is. Date, time, and location are next to each other.
  • Alignment: Soldiers are aligned to match each other on both sides. Center aligned text.
