Exhibit 7-Captioned Image

Design Thoughts:
Because of the dark colors in the image, I wanted to use a quote about mystery. The colors in the image itself are very mysterious on their own and makes me wonder about the story of the girl. Since I was drawn to the eyes, I thought this quote was perfect for this image, which is in Ebrima Bold font. I wanted the text to be easily read, so I put a rectangle behind it and lowered its opacity to keep most of the image in the background. Because it is blurred in the background anyway, you can hardly tell that I did anything behind it. Cropping the image moved her eye to a line on the rule of thirds, which I wanted to be the focus of the image.
  • Contrast: White on a dark background. The color of her skin with the rest of the image.
  • Repetition: A color in the background is repeated in her jacket.
  • Proximity: The text is close to her face because it is about her eyes.
  • Alignment: The text is left aligned, but the right is more jagged. It actually matches the flow of her hair down to her hand.
How I made this in Photoshop:
I took this image and cropped it to focus more on her. I changed the color of her jacket slightly by choosing one of the colors in the background and selected her jacket. On a new layer, I used paint on overlay to change it from a darker blue to a lighter one. I added a quote with extra leading to the side. I also added a black rectangle behind the text and lowered its opacity. To make it less sharp on the edges, I used the eraser tool to make it blend more into the background. I also used the healing brush tool to remove some hair close to the text and to remove her nose ring.
