Exhibit 8-Movie Reel

How I made this in Photoshop:
I first took a film strip and used a flag warp then duplicated it. I also filled the squares with a brown color coming from his jacket and lowered their opacity. After that, I took the background image and warped it just a little bit to match the flow of the film strips. I then added a gray and transparent gradient to the background. After that, I added the other images, shrinking them and using warp to make them fit in to the film strip squares. I added white text then converted them to a smart object to give them an arch warp. I also added another gradient on the bottom and made it a little darker.
Design Thoughts:
I wanted to make a film strip and chose the main couple in the middle to tell their story. I used a flag warp to indicate movement. I also wanted the colors of the film strip to match the background image, so I chose a brown color from the image for that. I lowered the opacity so that the images could be seen through it. I warped the background image and added a gradient to make it look similar to the film strips with a little bit of bend in the image. I also tried to make a colored image in every other square for consistency. I tried to tell the couple's story by finding other couples that look similar. I started with their dating life to their wedding day.
  • Contrast: White text on dark background. Colored image and less colored images. Black and white film strip on brighter image.
  • Repetition: Color from his jacket added to the film strips.
  • Proximity: Images of dating period together, to proposal and wedding close together. Once upon a time is next to their meeting and dating life and became happily ever after is by their wedding pictures.
  • Alignment: The text is aligned to match the film strips. Film strips are equally aligned from top and bottom edges.
